In our friendly, caring atmosphere where everyone knows each other there is respect and mutual trust. The relative smallness of the school gives real value to every girl so that she will enjoy a feeling of security, a sense of belonging and will develop a belief in her own worth. In a small school there are far more opportunities for the development of leadership and participation in school teams. Our classes are small and each girl is given personal attention: the children are treated as individuals; there is no attempt to mould the girls into a pattern. We believe firmly that every girl has something valuable to offer and it is that unique gift in every child which should be nurtured. This is reinforced by Westfield's tradition of parental involvement which encourages the school and home to work and act together with personal consultation at every stage. At Westfield the ablest girls are challenged and stretched with a stimulating curriculum including many extension activities; examination results are superb. At the same time, those girls who are not high flyers are not left with low self esteem. Our involvement in Round Square broadens the girls' horizons and helps them to see themselves as part of a world-wide community. It supports our aims to foster an awareness of the importance of teamwork and co-operation encouraging tolerance, understanding and consideration for the needs of others, both in the school and in the wider community.
