Overview

The College has an excellent reputation, not only in Lanarkshire, but throughout the country. The College's staff and students have distinguished themselves in both local and national awards in various disciplines. Success over the years has been due to the dedication of staff, the continued support of local employers, the support of Construction Skills Scotland (formerly the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB)) and the other partners with whom the College works closely. In 2007 South Lanarkshire College was the first college in Scotland to have learning and teaching graded Very Good in every subject area reviewed by HMIE. This achievement was repeated in 2011, when the HMIE Report, based on the new review criteria, was again the best of any college in the sector.South Lanarkshire College won a Business to College Award for the second year running in 2010 following the award for effective development of a company's workforce in 2009. The award was presented by Keith Brown, minister for Skills and Schools at an event organised by Scotlands Colleges. In 2010 the College was awarded Investors in People Gold Standard and was also given a ten-year membership award, reflecting the College's strong commitment to continuous professional development.
