Harrogate Ladies' College is a school providing an all-round, high quality academic education for girls and boys between the ages of 2 and 11 and for girls only between the ages of 11 and 18. The College, or HLC as it is usually known, is made up of three constituent parts:Bankfield, our pre-prep department for girls and boys aged 2-4; Highfield, our junior school or prep department for girls and boys aged 4-11; College, our girls' only 11-18 section which is a girls' boarding/day school. All three sections share the same Board of Governors and are led by the Headmistress. HLC is very proud of its history as a pioneer of girls' education in the North of England. At the same time, it has proved that it is adaptable and flexible. Thus it has changed over time from a girls' only 11-18 school to one which recognises that parents often want their children to attend the same school to the age of 11. The whole of the School shares the same philosophy and operates from a shared set of values, the most important of which is that the interests of our pupils are paramount.
