EXC50018 HND in Renewable Technology (Wind Turbine Technology) Duration: 2 Years Campus: Omagh Awarding Body: Edexcel Background: Course Content: The course is comprised of 12 modules (Project is double weighted), as follows: In Year 1 students will study: Renewable Energy Applications Engineering Science Electrical and Electronic Principles Health and Safety and Risk Assessment Power Generation and Transmission Electronics Electric Motor and Motor Control Fundamentals Analytical Methods for Engineers In Year 2, students will study: Business Management Techniques Project Further Electrical/Electrionic Metrology Programmable Logic Controllers Hydraulics Electrical Practical Applications Utilisation of Electrical Energy Alternating Current Theory II Engineering Design Progression: Additional Information: Entry Requirements Normally candidates will be expected to have achieved one from the following list: ? Two grade C/D passes at GCE A' level with at least a grade C in one of the following subjects: Mathematics, Technology, Physics. ? National Diploma in Engineering, with overall merit. ? Access course with 55% average (must contain a significant element of Computing). ? Or any other qualification deemed equivalent to the above. ? Consideration will be given to mature students who do not meet the above entry requirements but who can demonstrate the ability to succeed on the course. Entry to the course in these circumstances will be based on an interview and level of IT, numeracy and communication competence.
