Course Description

Our business with finance degree explores the analytical aspects of business. Focused on teaching you the practical skills and knowledge you need for a business career, this course also covers quantitative analysis and systems, and how the banking sector works.

Course modules cover essential financial knowledge such as developing and managing businesses, sustainability and financial crises, while the opportunity to work with business professionals and/or local communities on live projects provides practical experience.

Course Content

Year 1

Students are required to study the following compulsory modules.

  • Personal & Professional Development 1 (Business) (15 credits)
  • Introduction to Business Processes (30 credits)
  • Business Planning and Development (30 credits)
  • Discover Project Management (15 credits)
  • Introduction to Finance and Economics (30 credits)

Year 2

Students are required to study the following compulsory modules.

  • Personal and Professional Development 2 (PPD2) (15 credits)
  • Project Planning and Management (15 credits)
  • Creativity and Decision Making in Business (30 credits)
  • Banking: Principles, Practice and Regulation (30 credits)
  • Operations Management (30 credits)

Year 3

Students are required to study the following compulsory modules.

  • Innovation in Action (15 credits)
  • Managing Strategy (30 credits)
  • Sustainability in Business (15 credits)
  • Personal and Professional Practice 3 (SMS)
  • Corporate Financial Management (30 credits)

Students are required to choose 30 credits from this list of options.

  • Final Year Project: Consultancy Project (30 credits)
  • Business Creation Project (30 credits)
  • Thematic Independent Studies (30 credits)

 

Entry Requirements

112 UCAS points from A-levels. No more than 12 points should come from AS-levels.

Plus, GCSE English language or literature and mathematics at grade C / 4 or above.

  • Access courses
  • Level 2 alternatives like Functional Skills and Key Skills for English and mathematics.

Assessment Methods

Each course has formal assessments which count towards your grade. Some courses may also include ‘practice’ assessments, which help you monitor progress and do not count towards your final grade.
